3rd annual conference
The third conference took place from February 21 to 22, 2019, at the Institute for Socioeconomics at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Under the title “Exceeding boarders, risking pluralism” participants discussed perspectives on socioeconomic university teaching. The conference was organized by the Association for socioeconomic education and research (AS*EER) and sponsored by the Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET).
Invitation Text
Since the financial and economic crisis, that started roughly ten years ago, a lot has changed in the field of economic research and teaching. Pluralism and interdisciplinarity – long time demands by an active reform movement – have already become inherent parts of the economic training at some universities. Nevertheless, many challenges that related to this issue remain unsolved:
How can pluralistic education in the field of economics work at universities? How can socioscientific interdisciplinarity in teaching be carried out in a practical way? How should interdisciplinary socioeconomic courses of studies be designed? How does the training of teachers in this field need to be designed? Which new types of media and methods for teaching are needed?
These questions will be addressed at the conference “Exceeding limits, risking pluralism”, the annual conference of the Association of SocioEconomic Education and Research (AS*EER).
The conference consists of two elements: the “Festival of Pluralism” for students and young scientists and the AS*EER-annual conference.
